When will the Cape Green Link™ be operational?
Cape Green Link™ - Commercial operations begin in late December 2030. Construction of the transmission infrastructure and mega solar PV Mine is scheduled to commence in phases from 2028 to 2030 with final commissioning end of 2030.

Our affordable power plan offers a fixed tariff at @ R2.50/kWh (plus VAT) and will be accessible to all Cape Metro and Municipal account holders through existing distribution and Metro network infrastructure in 2030.

1. What is the Cape Green Link™?
Answer: The Cape Green Link™ is Solektrika’s private green power initiative, delivering 100% sustainable, affordable electricity to 2 million Western Cape households by 2030. With a 13GW solar PV plant, 3GW battery storage, and a 350km HVDC transmission line, we offer energy independence from Eskom.

2. What is the Bronz300 certificate, and how do I get it?
Answer: The Bronz300 certificate is for 2 million Western Cape households that register and pay a once off fee of R98 (VAT included). The certificate grants the holder the right to receive up to 300kWh of electricity per month at no cost in 2030 - for life. Zero cost - Yes, iys is correct.
Our surplus (super) power make it possible to trade at a premium (peak) tariff on the open market. In the old days households paid for the cheap power industry enjoyed. Solektrika is only returning the favour to households of the Western Cape. Industry (Open-Market) will subsidize our Bronz300 households for life.
3. What is the Gold800 certificate?
Answer: The Gold800 certificate costs R980 and is available to 800 000 registered Bronz300 certificate holders. It grants a participating household the right to buy up to 800kWh of additional power per month at R2.50/kWh
(excl. VAT) in 2030.
Gold800 certificates will be available from late April 2026.
